The park offers exciting game drives, particularly in the Buligi, Albert, and Queen’s tracks, where visitors can spot the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and previously reintroduced rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary). Other common sightings include giraffes, hartebeests, Uganda kobs, warthogs, and hyenas.

A boat safari along the Victoria Nile is one of the park’s highlights. The cruise takes visitors up close to the base of Murchison Falls, where hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and waterbirds thrive. The scenery is stunning, making it a perfect opportunity for photography and birdwatching.

Visitors can hike to the top of the falls for an up-close experience of the powerful cascade. The hike offers breathtaking views of the Nile River as it crashes through the narrow gorge, creating misty rainbows and a roaring sound.

With over 450 bird species, Murchison Falls is a top birding destination. Key birding areas include the Nile Delta, Budongo Forest, and riverbanks, where species such as the rare shoebill stork, African fish eagle, Goliath heron, and giant kingfisher can be spotted.

Located on the southern edge of the park, Budongo Forest offers excellent chimpanzee tracking experiences. This tropical rainforest is home to over 600 chimpanzees and other primates like black-and-white colobus monkeys and red-tailed monkeys.

Anglers can enjoy sport fishing along the Nile, targeting species such as Nile perch and catfish. Fishing is done on a catch-and-release basis, and guides are available for assistance.

Visitors can interact with the local communities around the park, such as the Boomu Women’s Group, to learn about traditional crafts, dances, and local storytelling.
